E25 CB mast lowering help?

Stephen Sails

Member I
Hey everybody
I’m getting my standing rigging replaced, and I’d love any advice on lowering the mast.
I have the factory crutches and a boom bridle thing.
Thanks!

one thing that stands out is to make sure to fasten gooseneck so it doesn’t slide up or down the mast track while lowering it. Check that your main sheet is long enough to bring the mast all the way down and still have a couple wraps left on the winch.

I have the original roller and crutch.
also, this, should anyone else need it. I scanned my mast raising/lowering booklet

Update:
Followed the manual. Who would’ve thunk?
Basically, the main sheet holds the boom as a gin pole, then runs to the jib halyard winch on the boom. Three wraps, and you can ease her down over the bow and onto the fore roller. Then roll the mast back and rest on the aft crutch, which rests in the rudder gudgeons.
we did it with two people in two hours, including figuring everything out.
DO NOT FORGET TO ATTACH THE BOOM GUYS!!!!!
thanks for all who helped!

Once again, thanks for all of the advice!
The mast came down so easily, I’m still in awe, frankly.
I’ve delivered the standing rigging to Columbia Rigging for an estimate.
fingers crossed!

I’ll also be replacing my rigging in the next couple years as well, so im curious to know what they quote you.

Have you thought about going with sta-lock?

Update:
I went with original spec steel.
it’s slow going, but I finally got a cost estimate. $500!
That’s two thirds what I was previously quoted. I’m ecstatic.
