Garelick Table Pedestal - FREE

I remove a Garelick Table Pedestal (loosen the black knob and manually raise or drop) from my E32-3 and replaced it with a gas assist pedestal as part of my new cabin sole project. I'd hate to toss the Garelick Table Pedestal away because it still works so I'm offering it here for free to any EYO owner who might be near Annapolis or even south central PA (Near Hershey). If beyond those areas I can ship it to you but I don't know how much that will cost and would like to be compensated for it. If you're interested in it then let me know and we'll work something out. If you're in or near the areas I mentioned above also contact me and we'll work out a time and place for you to pick it up. I think it's worth about $200 new.

The pedestal telescopes down to 13 3/4" with 6" protruding below the bottom of the floor flange. Extended out all the way it measures 28 1/2". It still works and was not original to the boat. I'll hold onto it for about a month and then after that it goes to the landfill for future archeologists to figure out its use.

What pedestal did you end up going with? I just replaced my non adjustable factory one with a gas assist model from Springfield. Just curious what others went with.

Hi @Bolo ,

I might be interested. I currently have a Zwaardvis table pedestal that no longer holds the table up (or does so barely with a great deal of coaxing). Are the basses standardized or would new holes in the cabin sole need to be drilled? I'm in Maine, so it would probably need to be shipped, which I would be happy to cover if reasonable. My Zwaardvis has quite a sizable cross brace to hold the table stable. I noticed the top part of the Garelick pedestal is much smaller. How stable is the table when raised using this pedestal?

Thanks!
Dave

Hi @trickdhat ,

What Springfield pedestal did you go with? Did you have a Zwaardvis table pedestal before that? Did you have to drill new holes in the cabin sole to mount the pedestal?

Thanks!
Dave

the original just had a base, pipe, and table mount. You had to remove the pipe to lower the table for a bed. The problem with the old pedestal was it would put all the weight on the edge of the table when lowered into the bed position. The table broke a few weeks ago which prompted this project. I used a track saw to joint and clean up where the break happened and glued it back together with West Systems G/FLEX epoxy and biscuits. I replaced the pedestal with this one:

I did have to drill new holes. I didn't have long enough bolts when I first installed it, so I need to go back and tap the TAFG.

Yes, same brand - Springfield, and it seems to work out well. Much easier to raise the table without risk of damage.

I went with the Springfield 3 stage table pedestal and bought it from "ReParadise" ( https://reparadise.co/great-product.../springfield-air-powered-table-base-pedestal/) and yes, I did have to drill new holes in the sole because the base was bigger than the old one but that wasn't a problem. I didn't need to drill a large center hole for the column since it doesn't extend into the cabin sole. Since I replaced the entire sole new holes needed to be drilled anyway. I may have had a Zwaardvis pedestal when I bought the boat 16 years ago but that one, whatever it was and it was gas assist like the Springfield, broke soon after I bought the boat and I determined at the time that it was unrepairable. I replaced it with a fixed pedestal that didn't work out, then a telescoping one that I'm giving away, and finally the Springfield because I really like that gas assist which makes things a lot easier and lessens the risk of damaging the table.

To be honest the Garelick table can still be a little wobbly even when the knob is tightened down. Its not up the the quality of the Zwaardvis or the Springfield, which a far more expensive, but it is a solution to getting the job done and that's about all. Its not the best pedestal but not the worst either. The base measures 9 1/4" across (diameter) and the bolt hole diameter is 8 1/4" with the holes angled 60 degrees from each other.

Bob -

Let me know when and where to pick it up and I'll take it. Even though I don't own RagTime anymore, I know she needs a new one.

TK, Sure, I‘ll let you know. My boat is docked at Port Annapolis Marina which I’m sure you know where it is, right? Need to check with the admiral, who’s still asleep this morning, but I’m thinking of going to the boat this weekend. I’ll send you a personal message with my phone number.

Hi Bolo, hey it would be great to get a report in the new Springfield unit. I too have a 32-3, and what seems to be an original pedestal. It’s hard to raise and not super secure when locked. And it barely gets high enough. I believe there was a note from my previous owner that he just stuck a gas shock inside it At some point and was pleased, but I see no evidence to that effect not having removed it yet. Maybe it’s in there and does not work any more, or perhaps it’s been removed? Questions on the Springfield:
Does it get high enough?
Is it secure when locked in position, feel solid and not wobbly?
Do you just have to nudge rather than wrestle it up, or is it self rising?

The Springfield air assisted 3 stage table pedestal is working out great. Easy to raise or lower and sturdy when up and locked. It lowers to more then 14” (13 1/2” I think) which is the distance from the sole to the top of the table supports and raises to 28” from the sole to the BOTTOM of the table. When you want to raise the table you just unlock the two brackets and the table raises up to the highest position all by itself. Lock the two brackets down and there is no wobble. I’ll make a video and post it here. Purchased it for $450 from a camper restoration company called “ReParadise”. Here’s the link for the table: https://reparadise.co/great-product.../springfield-air-powered-table-base-pedestal/

Having not to drill a large hole in the T&H sole for the column made installation easier.

I was the guest today of Bob and his lovely wife and got to see the new pedestal. It looks as great as he describes.
Thanks again!

If a Zwaardvis pedestal won't hold still, you can always drill for a through-bolt.

But don't try that on a swordfish, they won't hold still and the hole gets buggered.

Dutch, of course. From zwaard (“sword”) +‎ vis (“fish”).
