1973 Ericson 29 For Sale - St Pete, FL

She in St Petersburg, FL and ready to sail! I have put lots of $ into her. Took great care of her and had lots of great days of sailing on her. I am sad to let her go but I have upgraded to a larger and older boat and want to find someone who will care for her and enjoy her as I have. She...

    Last Race of the Season

Yuck Now that you mention it... I do remember all the garbage that would roll out of the storm drains into the inner harbor after a good rain. You would think that Baltimore would figure out how to keep all that junk out of the harbor. Especially now that the Inner Harbor has become such...

    Last Race of the Season

Ahh my old stomping grounds... Fond memories of the Bay Congratulations on a race well raced... Enjoyed seeing the photos of Ft McHenry, Fells Point, and the Inner Harbor. Some things sure have changed around there. I do miss it... I used to live in Federal Hill (on the inner harbor)...

    Anchor poll

E29 - 35# Cqr We had a 25# Danforth which we dragged about 60 feet across the Vinoy Basin in St. Petersburg in a strong north-north-easterly breeze. Miraculously didn't touch a thing and didn't end up on a seawall. Shortly after this we purchased a 35# CQR with 30' of heavy chain (I believe...

    E29 Phrf

Racing E29 PHRF in Tampa Bay Hello and sorry for the very late post. I don't get around to checking in here as often as I would like. I have a 1973 E29 Standard Rig. I did some re-outfitting of the rig to allow me to fly a spinnaker. I have only owned the boat for a couple of years and...

    ericson 26 circumnavatigation!

E29 Circumnav in progress... See web log There is a post in the "raft-up" section of the community forum about a couple of guys (a Canadian and a Norwegian) who are on their way around the world in an E29. See the post in "Raft-Up" called "Big Fish Story on an E29" They have a web site that...

    Sunbrella Covers for Grab Rails

I can't vouch for them because I have never used them but they do have std sunbrella handrail covers on their website. They are also found in the Links section of this Ericson site so I would assume that someone in this community has used their services before. http://www.sailcovers.net I...

FYI... Free Up to date electronic charts and software

I found this post in the seven seas cruising association website for the Maptech free downloadable electronic charts. I believe they are the latest NOAA charts and they have them divided up into regions with just about the entire coastal US available. You can download all the charts for your...

Boat Swings Wildly at Anchor in a breeze

Hi Davis, I took delivery of the boat last October (after all the 2004 Hurricaines Passed us by). Since then I have replaced the head and the all the associated hoses. Replaced the galley freshwater pump (it also has a salt water pump). Bought all new cushions down below (they came out...

Boat Swings Wildly at Anchor in a breeze

Hi Davis, Our E29, now named Norsevind, was previously from San Diego, California. I bought her from a guy who transported her cross country on a trailer to his new home in Hernando Beach (a little north of here). The channel out of Hernando Beach is 4'-4" on the highest of tides so he...

Big Fish Story on an E29

I ran across this story of these two young guys circumnavigating the globe in an Ericson 29 (Lets hope the sea gods continue to shine on them) Check out their website www.trafficated.com Check out this sailfish they landed

Boat Swings Wildly at Anchor in a breeze

Swings Wildly at Anchor Sorry, I missed the post on the offset bridle. I'll certainly try that the next time I am out on an over night. Did I read correctly 4 years anchoring out...Was that as a liveaboard, or on an extended cruise. I have dreams about having that kind of time to get away.

Boat Swings Wildly at Anchor in a breeze

Swings wildly at anchor One evening at anchor I tried tying off the tiller hard to port. It changed the pattern of the swings but still seemed to swing around a lot. The anchor riding sail sounds like the ticket. Thanks for the responses

Boat Swings Wildly at Anchor in a breeze

I dont know if anyone else has noticed their boat swing around a lot while at anchor in a moderate to heavy breeze. It seems that other boats in the same anchorage lie relatively calmly into the wind while our Ericson 29 is pacing back and fourth like a spooked horse. Watching the boat for...
