From Morro Bay to Monterey ?

Come on by Moss Landing Sven, I highly recommend a stop off in Stillwater Cove. The Elkhorn Yacht Club has a cruisers group go down there once a year. My wife and I will be racing our 1981 E38 Lela Margariete this weekend in a local Double Angle Regatta. The finish is in Moss Landing and the...

    Combi vi

Combi Unit Stuff Harold, I might be interested in your combi unit stuff. I have a 81' E38 with the original combi instrumentation. The sounder has been on the fritz and I was just logging on to do a little research. Do you have a working wind instrument for the combi? What year is your E38...

    Living aboard our E38

Paths have crossed (I tried to post this on your blog but found it much simpler here) Mark and Vicki, I'm almost certain that we crossed paths on your way down to Stillwater Cove. My girlfriend and I were sailing north bound from a great Labor Day weekend 2009 with a group from the Elk Horn...

    Tiny Bugs

We liveaboard our Ericson 38 in the Monterey Bay. Recently I have been noticing tiny little bugs crawling on our teak. They're tiny (pinhead size body, plus legs, but brownish color,), and hard to describe without aid of a microscope, they look like they could be in the beetle family. Does...

I recall paying nearly $500 dollars for a survey two years ago. This is my first boat and didn't really know what to expect from the surveyor. He did do a tap test on the deck but no fancy tools were used just a mallet. Some of you Northern California people might no the name, Joseph Rodgers. He...

    1981 E38 anchor locker / bow cleats advice w/pictures

Does anyone have any experience with these moisture meters or what type to purchase. I have looked online at about a dozen ranging from $100 - $500 and they all claim to do the same thing. This seems like a great investment as I have a few other questionable spots that I don't want to drill into...

What is involved in metering the area for moisture? Is this simply the process of checking the core to be solid? I do want to make sure that these cleats are very secure.

I'm not sure what or who a real Rube Goldberg is but I really like the double bow roller setup. The posts and chocks have been used to guide the rode onto the cleat. The pins also have a section of pvc tube that goes over them to act as a guide roller when deploying either anchor. I...
