    Prop cavitation

Unfortunately I do not, but I will try to take one. The tip of the prop is about 1 inch from the hull, and the prop about 3 inches from the cutlass bearing.

    Prop cavitation

I thought I would reopen this old thread with a question about cavitation. I recently re-powered my E30-2 from a Yanmar YSM12 (10 HP) to a Yanmar 3GMF (20 HP). This included replacing my original 3-blade 12LH10 prop with a 3-blade Federal 12RH14 cupped prop (1" shaft), and also pushing the...

    Yanmar YSM12 Diesel Engine, $1750

Well-running and maintained 1 cylinder engine, 10HP, about 500 hours since rebuild. Recently removed from my E30 sailboat to replace it with a larger engine. Includes transmission, wiring harness&panel, engine mounts, wooden dolly with casters. Running video and records available. As-is, firm.

Still sailing strong here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Also in the process of fully rebuilding a Yanmar 3GMF to replace my under-powered YSM12 for more extended coastal cruising. Greetings and Fair Winds!

    E30-2 or Tartan 30

I haven't posted here for years but I thought I would give you my 2 cents on the Atomic 4 and E30-2, whatever their worth... My first boat was an E-27 with an Atomic 4 engine, it was a great engine for power as well as a workhorse, but the maintenance was a pain. In my opinion the main problem...

30-2 Hi Don, While looking for something else, I saw your post from last summer. I am not sure if you are referring to cracking on your son's hull, or to a post I made about a crack on my E30-2 a couple years ago. If you were referring to your son's hull, I would be interested to find out...

    Ericson 30-2 Owners

Hi all, thank you very much for all your kind replies regarding the crack that developed in my hull. The first surveyor from the insurance suggested the aluminum transverse beams may no longer be fully bonded to the hull, which came as a shock, but which after my own inspection I did not...

    Ericson 30-2 Owners

Thanks all for your replies. Yes it has a keel. To answer Toddster's question about method of repair, basically the yard told me they would grind down the hull from outside (a lot of grinding!) over and beyond the affected area, feathered in, then re-glass the whole thing. They told me they...

Crack on bottom of hull ahead of keel sump After coming back from a rough outing in typical San Francisco Bay weather (20-25 knots, heavy chop) I noticed a lot of water in the bilge. I initially believed I took water in from the base of the lifeline stanchions, which I know need re-bedding...

    Ericson 30-2 lower gudgeon

This is a good point, however, in this case it seemed like the play was just a bit too much for my comfort. Thank you Cookie for the original drawing showing the gudgeon, posted here: http://www.ericsonyachts.org/infoexchange/showthread.php?1259-Ericson-30-2-Owners/page2&p=92158#post92158 I...

Thank you for this original wheel brochure Thank you Cookie. This is great info. I will put a link to your post on the thread Ericson 30-2 lower gudgeon http://www.ericsonyachts.org/infoexchange/showthread.php?13126-Ericson-30-2-lower-gudgeon

    Ericson 30-2 lower gudgeon

Thank you Dave for this very useful information! The entire bronze casting in my case has a very slight play (maybe 1/64") but is solidly attached into the hull. I was hoping to find a plate and nut inside the hull that could be tightened, but after reading some of the posts it looks that this...

Ericson 30-2 lower rudder hinge bracket Hi, Would anybody know the construction details for the transom-mounted rudder lower hinge bracket. Mine is loose (note: I am NOT talking about the bushing, which is loose too, but can easily be fabricated). The hinge bracket forms one piece with a...

1979 E30-2 hull#36 Hi, I recently purchased hull#36 here in San Francisco Bay. Hauling her out this week, looking forward to sailing her after a new bottom paint, lifelines and a few other minor repairs/upgrades. Cheers!
