    5432 Hurth 100 transmission question

Also, I checked the transmission fluid. Bright red with no sign of metal or other material

    5432 Hurth 100 transmission question

Thank you. I think your right. There is no feeling on the shift lever. It’s feels almost as if the shift lever broke inside the housing since there is no feeling on the lever. I’m having a hard time finding someone to pull the transmission although quite a few are willing to rebuild or sell...

    5432 Hurth 100 transmission question

Thanks. The boat is out of the water at the moment so I have not done any of this with the engine running. The prop shaft only turns to the right. It doesn’t make any difference where I position the shift lever. That’s why I’m wondering if the engine need to be running to engage. As I said...

    5432 Hurth 100 transmission question

I recently replaced the shift and throttle cables on my 1987 35-3. I have never had any problems with the transmission. Upon changing the cables I noted that the shift lever on the transmission is probably at approximately 45 degrees in neutral, with the full range of the shift lever at 10...

    E35-3 M40 5432 control cable replacement

That looks like the same fitting on my shift cable. The attached picture shows the throttle cable where it attaches at the engine throttle control. I think all I would need to do is attach the throttle cable at the pedestal and push the throttle at the pedestal all the way forward. I’m...

    E35-3 M40 5432 control cable replacement

Thanks Christian. Appreciate the e prompt reply. Your information on disassembly of the pedestal was very helpful. I’m assuming that if I reassemble the new cable at the pedestal and push the throttle forward all the way that the connection at the engine should also be completely forward...

    E35-3 M40 5432 control cable replacement

I'm replacing the control cables. The cables are out and I believe I have a good understanding on replacing the shift cable. Ate there any tricks or anything I should be aware of in replacing the throttle cable? Is there some type of process I should follow to make sure it is adjusted...

    Neutral safety switch

I haven’t taken a real close look at the wiring harness yet. I’ll be going up tomorrow to take a closer look. The engine was totally rebuilt a few years back but no information on wiring. Once again, thanks for the response

    Neutral safety switch

Thanks Loren. The boat is a recent purchase. It started fine at the beginning of the cruise. The weather was rough at the end and needed the engine to enter a relatively narrow harbor entrance. I’ll follow your advice along with a multimeter check

    Neutral safety switch

I have a 1987 Ericson 35-3 with a 5432 diesel. On a recent cruise the engine would not start at the most inopportune time. We played with the wiring behind the panel and moved the transmission in and out of gear. The engine did eventually start but need to track down the reason for not...
