Another new entry! Hello All! Please add "Blue Heron" to the list - she's a 1986 E38-200 based in Sausalito, CA (hull #218). She is new to us - went from a Catalina 25 to our E38-200...woo boy!! Curtis

    38-200 Keel Bolts

38-200 Keel Bolt thread resurrection Greetings All, When our 1986 Ericson 38-200 was hauled out in November, we had cracks along the forward and aft portions of where the keel attaches to the hull. The joint did weep a bit (clear weep - no brown detected), so we had the yard torque the...

    Exhaust anti-siphon hose

Replacement with Vetus ASDV? Question for y'all: what if I removed the anti-siphon loop/device in the engine space (above the engine on the stbd. side) and replaced it with a Vetus Vented Anti-Siphon Device? As I understand it, the vented anti-siphon device/loop would obviate the need to run...

    Exhaust anti-siphon hose

bronze elbow thru-hull replacement Hi Everyone, I was replacing the old, crazed exhaust hose on our E-38 when the iron pipe extending from the bronze exhaust exit elbow sheared off (the bronze elbow is attached to the thru-hull at the underside of the transom and has the funny little nipple...

    Fuel filters

Hi Everyone, Last weekend as we were approaching the slip after a lovely day sail, the engine suddenly died as I was maneuvering through some difficult crosswinds at the slip (went from forward to reverse and to forward again - dropping the rpms before shifting back and forth). The engine...

    Propane system overhaul on E38-200

The Newtec apparently does have a 30-second alarm/set-up period - I let it go and it kept on going for much longer than 30 seconds. :( I think the old system is shot and needs replacing (that's the feeling I've got in my gut, at least).

    propane system rehab

Curious to know what you end up doing. I'm also going through the process of updating my propane system so I can use the stove (someday). Had a bitch of a time just sourcing a solenoid valve (Trident seems to be the only one out there). I took the front end of the system to my local propane...

    Propane system overhaul on E38-200

follow up on propane system overhaul Thanks for the input, gents. I ended up detaching the propane tank, regulator, solenoid valve and taking it all to our local propane supply shop in Petaluma (DeCarli's) where they re-certified the tank (hadn't been done since issuance in 1985), replaced...

    Propane system overhaul on E38-200

Hi All, The solenoid valve for our propane stove on our E38-200 (1986) is old, corroded, crusty and disconnected. The previous owner had the solenoid valve wiring disconnected, so we haven't been able to use the stove yet. As I'm sizing everything up, I'm wondering if I should replace all...
