    Dinghy Insurance

Surprised to discover that the subject of dinghy insurance does not seem to be a subject of discussion on any of the sailing forums. I assumed that it would be one that would have generated countless threads. Recently I purchased a motor for mine, which meant that I had to register the dinghy...

E25 rub rail and hull-to-deck joint

I took the original rubrails (and tracks) off and set them down on the ground beside the boat. Over time leaves and dirt covered them. Near the end of my refitting of Oystercatcher, I dug them out and scrubbed them with Barkeeper's Friend. Didn't want to spend any more money. The oxyalic acid in...

    Pulling Wires, Etc.

What Mark said. I do the same thing, same Maine Sail method. I've labeled damn near everything in the boat (wires, switches, handles, knobs). Sometimes seems pointless at the moment, but not a month or two later.

    Pulling Wires, Etc.

Milwaukee Tools right angle drill attachment and stubby-bit drill bit set. Check out the Labels section on the home page of my blog. I have 14 links to articles where I discuss this tool. Used it throughout the refitting of Oystercatcher, including the rewiring. Incredibly helpful in those tight...

    Ericson 25 rudder

From what I've been able to determine from looking at pictures of the E25+ over the years is that it has a coaming on the transom. The E25 has coamings on the port and starboard sides of the cockpit, but there is no coaming on the transom. The transom is a solid piece of fiberglass...

    Ericson 25 rudder

Thanks for the compliments on my blog, Marc. Based on the picture that Glyn posted I can say that the E25 transom and the E25+ transom are not the same. The E25 lacks the plywood. The E25 has just one solid piece of fiberglass, top to bottom. Initially I planned to use small scrap pieces of G10...

    Thelonious II Progress Update Video

Nice job, Christian. Glad you're getting a chance to enjoy her in the midst of your refitting.

    Oystercatcher, Before and After

Christian has made some greatest hits videos of his work and experiences. If only there were a greatest hits video of all the cussing and the stunned "What the F?" moments we've all had in the refitting of our darlings. Roscoe

    For Sale 1972 Ericson 35 MK2 $3600

Doubt you can get more than $3,600 for scrap. Just give her away and maybe someone will take her away from you and save you the hassle.

    Oystercatcher, Before and After

Thanks, Fellas. Yea, that Sharpie-marked word, "Aft," really annoyed the Admiral. Erasing that with acetone was one of those little two-minute things on the two-page punch list that was easy to find excuses to ignore . . . when there was sailing to do that summer :) Roscoe

    Oystercatcher, Before and After

I recently created this summary of my three-year (2012-2015) refitting of Oystercatcher. I've actually owned the boat since the fall of 2009, but for the first two-and-a-half years I was preoccupied with a renovation of my house. During that time and during the refitting I got my sailing fix on...

Trailering and Launching Ericson 25, Oystercatcher

Thanks, Scott, for the kind words. Just so everyone knows . . . I love the blog feature on this EYO website. I'm something of a maniac when it comes to images. The Google-based blog allows me to cultivate joyfully this maniacal side. Oh, and by the way, Oystercatcher has now reached her 41st...

    Trailering Ericson 27

It's been years since I've seen these. Can't believe I found them. How would you gauge this guy's breaking ability with this load?
