1989 Ericson 28' Sloop Wing Keel for sale

I can't believe I am saying this - TOO MANY BOATS! I bought this in 2007, has been under cover since fall 2012. The following are some of the things done to it since I bought it: Spring 2011, hull soda blasted and all new bottom paint, four new Lewmar side ports, new sail cover, compass...

1989 Ericson 28 for sale, wiing keel, diesel

This is a duplicate of a post I placed in FOR SALE. I wasn't sure how to cross post. Sorry for the repeat. If the snow ever melts in Maine and I can get back to clear the cover off and wash it, I'll soon be placing my E28 for sale. My daughter was going to take it but recently changed her...

1989 Ericson 28 For Sale, wing keel, diesel

If the snow ever melts in Maine and I can get back to clear the cover off and wash it, I'll soon be placing my E28 for sale. My daughter was going to take it but recently changed her mind. I haven't had it in the water since summer 2012 (sorry, went to the dark side and bought a cat). That...

    Racing an E28

MS Regatta A couple summers ago we raced my E28 three weeks after buying it. It was the MS Regatta in Casco Bay, ME. Gusts somewhere in the 40 kt range at times. Over a third of the fleet, around 30 dropped out if I recall correctly, did not race, a couple blew out sails and one went sails in...

    On board stereo

boat audio Okay, so this is a little late to the party. With the advent of all the great MP3 players, when I replaced the dead stereo I went with this: http://www.gooddeals18.com/product/SHKCYCLERADIOKIT/Motorcycle__yacht_2_speakers__amplifier__radio_pkg.html It is a motorcycle AM/FM with...

    over date flares

old flares I keep a few in my truck for emergencies. Since they never seem to happen (hope I do not jinx it), I am not sure what I will do with them in the long term.

Whats this crack in the bilge?

Bilge crack It's hard to really say but it looks like a tension crack on the inner laminates. If this is on the port side, I would venture a guess the keel bottom was pushed in that direction, causing the hull to flex upward, overstressing the inner plies. Are you able to look at the stbd side...

    A new low

Always somethinig Ah, yes, the joys of springtime. On my E28, I decided to plumb the fwd water tank into a feed for the head flush. The tank was kind of skanky anyhow and I don't do long cruises and besides, seawater in the bowl stinks. At 59 I do not stand on my head so well but I got the new...

    Data Marine Depth Sounder failing?

same here I also had a DMI depth gage issue. I sent the head in and DMI pronounced it fine, so I bought a new transducer. Now mind you, I did check wiring prior to this. After I ran, with, as you say, major difficulty, the new transducer cable, unit still did not work. So I went back to work...

    Calculations

overweight Hmmm, sounds ominous. Do you haul for the season? I used to live in Vancouver, WA so know the area. Next time she is out of the water you could have the hull checked with a moisture meter (be sure to get someone who knows what they are doing). Exploratory surgery may be an...

    Calculations

overweight There are several things that could be astray. First, the published weight may not be an accurate reflection of the build weight. Published weight, as mentioned, is seldom reflective of full tanks, gear, beer and Ketel One stowed aboard. There is also the possibility that the hull...

Where do you keep your boat?

On a hook I own a mooring in Falmouth, ME, costs me a fortune at $50 a season, plus the $50 dinghy permit to keep at the town dock. There are about 500 or so moorings between the three facilities in the immediate area. The closest dock space is north to Yarmouth (10 miles or so) and south to...

We had a great weekend sailing

Must have just missed you. It was a great weekend on Casco Bay, especially Saturday, Could you believe all the sailboats out? I had to laugh - most of the powerboats were tied up somewhere. probably wishing they had sail power. My wife is a wimpy sailor so I had to put in a single reef and...

    28'er, Lewmar aft fixed portlight

Okay, this very much puzzles me. I bought Nereus last fall and am fixing her up. I ordered 4 new Lewmar portlights (2 each 4L & 4R) since the current ones leaked like a sieve and looked hopeless to rebuild. I popped in the p/s foreward ones today. The cutout openings for the rear ones are...

    backstay adjuster sheaves

I have a 1989 28' with a backstay adjuster using 4 wire rope sheaves, 1-3/8" dia. There is a sailboat emblem on the connecting plate. Anyone know who makes it and where I might find a replacement sheave? Harken is a tad too big.
