32-3 Ignition panel wiring surprises and queries

Well the "thingy glue to the Tach is your alarm buzzer by the looks of it. The white wire looks to be tied into a ground. The black wire is hooked up to positive 12 volt.........But I would put a meter on first just to verify. Green is to the Solenoid?

    Ericson 35-2 interior carpet

Fred; Our fiberglass floor was really starting to show its age so I went and made floor covering for it. First we made a template of the floor using plastic sheeting. The we ordered enough vinyl floor covering (SailRite has a good selection) The stuff comes in 8ft widths so we were able to do...

    prop shaft leak

Give it a 1/8 to 1/4 turn and see what happens; If you can not turn the nut most likely it is bottomed out and you will need to repack the shaft log. Not something to do in the water; so then you have to decide if you what to go with the drip for rest of the season or fix it now. Not sure...

    Locking Companionway

Thanks, That is the last and only piece of wood on the outside of the boat......And it is removable from underneath so I can take it off to refinish it when it is needed. We also have drop boards that fit between the Lexan/Strarboard rails and the interior trim. Kent

    Locking Companionway

Chris; The quarterberth was a major project that started out for other reasons. Due to a drunk powerboat friend of ours at the marina decking in our cockpit while boarding our boat at night time. It was not pretty at all, but you know how bad it can be if somebody steps into the cockpit at the...

    Locking Companionway

Chris; Elusive is one of your sisters......Number 59 so she is a few months younger then yours. So your question about the clearance to the binnacle is a very good question which took two tries to get right with the hinge rails mounted to the companionway bulkheads. I made the first set...

    Locking Companionway

Chris; I really hate wood on the outside of boat the less wood the better. Wood needs to be inside safe from the weather so a few years ago both the we changed out both the slider and drop boards....... I wish I had better photos of the project but just didn't take any I guess I'll never be a...

Destination Lake Champlain from the Chesapeake Bay

Mast must come Down Every year the snow birds are either heading south in the fall and heading north as soon as the locks open again for the season. That being said you have a couple of option south of Albany to pull your stick. First right after Kingston Ny in the town of Catkill. Then at...

    winter cover pattern

Templete for a Winter Cover Ron; When we made our winter cover we had the boat shrink wrapped and used the plastic as a template. I built the frame out of 1 1/2inch sch80 PVC pipe then had the marina cover the boat for the winter. In the spring we carefully marked all issue noted from the...

E38 Autopilot / Quadrant Install Help Needed

Rudder I really can't say if a 38's rudder will float or not; on the 39's the rudder has a lower Tang supporting the rudder at all times. But if I had to do this job in the water the first thing I would do, would be to see if a cord could be rigged to the emergency tiller drive socket. Then...

E38 Autopilot / Quadrant Install Help Needed

Modified Quadrant Not sure if this will help but this is what we did The Alum Plate is 0.5inch thick the Tiller Hole was set per the B&G install manual. The plate is mounted to the quadrant with 6 5/16 bolts. Has been installed on the boat since 2012 with no issues. I was able to make the...
