    Hudson River Boatyards

Thanks everyone. I was hoping to find a DIY yard near Catskill so I can change out my old VC-17 bottom paint for Pettit Trinidad before heading south. We also have a few rigging projects to do while the mast is down. Does anyone know anything about Hop-O-Nose Marina?

Hi All, We're making plans to sail our 32-3 from Northern Lake Michigan to the East Coast via the Erie Canal next Sept and are looking for boat yard sugestions at both ends. Does anyone have expierence ?

    Cutlass bearing set screw?

Hi Guys, We have a 1985 32-3 that I'm trying to change out the cutlass bearing and for the life of me I can't get it to move. I've sanded the strut bright looking for a set screw but nothing shows. Any suggestions how I should proceed? I have a cutlass bearing press/puller and have tried a...

    Loose Footed Main

I'm ordering new sails for our 32-3 and the sailmaker is recommending a loose footed main with a stackpack. Should I be concerned about the bending moment on the boom with our mid boom sheeting? I'm afraid the boom will buckle if stressed. Any suggestions?

    Boom height

That's a great idea, thanks. We're picking the boat up in Racine, WI on Friday and making the 200 nm passage to Northport, MI (our home port) Friday and Saturday. Looks like the weather Gods are in our favor but one never knows.

    Boom height

We're now the proud owners of a 1985 32-3 and starting to think of changes to make it our own. I noticed that one needs an extension ladder to reach the outboard end of the boom from the cockpit. Has anyone thought of lowering the boom by 12" to make it more accessible? Thoughts.

Hi Tyler, We sail out of Northport, MI for the time being. When my partner retires in 2023 we plan to extend our horizons to points east and south.

He went to 175 fp. We're all ready to make the 200 nm sail home this weekend. Kind of like a mini-Mac. Reaching all the way if the weather Gods hold true.

The surveyor gave all the keel bolts a torque test, everything took 1/8th of a turn, examined the hull and sump areas then pronounced the keel good to go. I concur and closed on the boat today. I'll keep posting our progress and asking for suggestions when stumped. Thanks everyone.

    ISO: Ericson 32-3

WE found one in Wisconsin and bought it. closed on it today. It's in need of TLC but the previous owner was a two boat man and needed to get rid of this one before another winter storage bill came his way. We launch it this week and deliver it home next week. Happy and excited.

Thanks for everyone's help. I have a surveyor coming today to check keel bolts with torque wrench. There is no cracking radiating out from the aft end of the keel and no evidence of water leaking out of the crack. This is a freshwater boat so I feel confident the bolts are in good shape but...

Hi everyone, I'm trying to become an Ericson 32-3 owner, I mean I have an accepted offer on a 1985 model but there is an issue with the forward 1/4 of the joint between the ballast keel and the boss/sump it meets with. The joint has a crack from the leading edge back to the first double set of...
