    Help on boat curtains, please

I had an unorthodox solution that worked great and was free (sort of). After retiring, I drove a tractor trailer at night for a few years. I had to buy black-out curtains for our bedroom. Repurposing those curtains worked well.

    Chart plotter location options

Hey folks, I just wanted to chime in, On our E-32, the mainsheet discourages mounting anything to the binnacle. I made a fiberglass recess, installed it on the cabin bulkhead. The instrument is recessed. Its covered by Sunbrella. Occasionally , snaking through our channel we ask the person...

    Instant coffee

My vote goes to Keureg! During our haul out, this spring, I enjoyed cafe Cubano , Petes, Dunkin , Cafe DeEstella, hot cocoa, tea….

200 vs. 300 and Plus (+) model info?

Hi Robert, we have owned our E 32 for 24 years, and she is a terrific boat for local coastal sailing. We previously had Catalina 22 and 28, which were good boats, but had their short comings. If we were younger, we would go for the E38. Especially for the ICW and beyond. From a practical point...

Propane tanks to fit molded lockers in cockpit

I second Tyler’s choice, I went with a steel 11lbs. tank. Ordered via Amazon. I applied a couple coats of epoxy paint to the tank. That was several years ago. I have no regrets about the size nor that it being steel. One gripe that I have is replacing the battery for the Force 10 igniters.

    Replacing the Steering Pedestal

I wonder if you are thinking of mounting the pedistal ahead of the rudder post. I mention this because on our boat all of the moving parts are aft and are reachable from the aft locker. Literally below the bridge deck.

    Replacing the Steering Pedestal

This is AnnaDor’s wheel. It’s not not an Edson but just like one.

    Brightwork / varnish recommendations

Also your mention of smell. It took a long time to varnish the interior of our boat. I stayed on AnnaDor for a week at a time. Watching TV or reading when it rained…No Smell!

    Brightwork / varnish recommendations

I want to say that we are very happy with how things turned after a year, it looks the same. On our skylight hatch I used an epoxy that is blended with solar protection and a Sunbrella cover. That is an expensive finish, but the difficulty in refinishing justified the expense. I am planning to...

    Brightwork / varnish recommendations

I used a relatively new …dare I say it Minwax Pro Series Spar Urethane water based finish. I applied four coats on our teak interior. We used satin on the bulkheads and gloss on the trim. no smells, water clean up, no runs or drips or sagging As a trim carpenter I never liked the yellow...

Help selecting a new mainsheet traveler system

I recently responded to similar question. I hated the curved track!!! It had no upside, the main sheet would entangle the throttle and shifter, the blocks hit the pedistal and you had to them drag to new position. I installed a Harken straight tract about two inches forward of the original...

    E32-2 restoration thread

    E32-2 restoration thread

Hey, I am late to the party! AnnaDor is a 1978 model 32’. I want to respond to the question about the Head. The 1st mate is a very long legged woman… What we did was turned the toilet toward the center line about 30*. Swinging the door to the salon gives pretty good leg room and privacy(for a...

Oil at rear of raw water pump, corrosion

Prairie Schooner, I glad you caught that “Bondo Comment. This is an easy fix fix for JB Weld. Put the stud in to mold around, degrease the area. Put a lump of JB on; slide the pump into position to press the surface of the gooo flat; wait ; finally, gasket and gasket sealer, and, it should be...

Ericson 30+ Rub Rail Replacement and Cost

Point is; if it has lasted four decades without rotting; you can assume it will outlive any interest you may have in the boat. My mother would ask me if I thought I was smarter than the engineers who designed my car; after jacking it up in back and lowering in the front to gain wheelbarrow like...
