    Wanted: Nice clean Ericson 38

There's at least one or two for sale in Hawaii (been for a while). Haven't personally seen them though. Boats seem to get neglected here. https://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/boa/d/38-ericson-sloop-1986/6475532676.html

    Radome mounting on E38-200

A few more photos... Basically, the wire went through the transom through a water proof fitting, then up the inside of a metal rod which was attached to the backstay and adjuster with u-bolts. Seemed like a pretty solid set up, and it was up high and out of the way.

    Radome mounting on E38-200

We had ours installed on the backstay. It was self-leveling, so stayed flat even while the boat was healed.

Thelonious II Completes Second Hawaii Cruise (Tracking Link)

Ko Olina would not let this year's Three Day Around Oahu race boats overnight in their marina. One of the reasons the third day was cancelled.

What safety equipment should a newbie cruiser make sure he/she has

I met the skipper of a J/109 that got dis-masted 150 miles away from Kaneohe during last year's Pacific Cup. It was all rod rigging. They used a pair of Home Depot bolt cutters to cut the rig. He said they worked really well. They had to use a hack saw to separate the forestay foil before...

    E38 Head Plumbing Need Ideas!

...I agree with the Whale Gusher pump as a source of odors. We took ours out and left it out. The bellows were pretty odor permeable on that pump...

    E38 Head Plumbing Need Ideas!

Installing an anti-siphon for the head intake needs to go on the pump discharge, so that wouldn't be under the sink. See attached photo. We did not install one, although if you are paranoid about it, it looks like it would be pretty simple to install one. It may look fairly ugly unless you...

A few questions about head cleaning/maintence....

replace everything We tried various flushing out options, but nothing really totally got the smell out (my partner has the nose of a hound dog). We wound up replacing everything. Looking back on it, it wasn't that bad of a job and saved hundreds by doing it ourselves. Just need to put on the...

    Surveyor and mechanic in PNW

I used this guy, who came highly recommended, for our pre-purchase survey. I’m sure he can recommend a good mechanic as well. Matthew L. Harris NAMS-CMS, SAMS-AMS Reisner, McEwen & Harris Division of Marine Consultants, Inc. Tel: (360) 647-6966 Email: M_DBA@msn.com

E35-3 Aft-led lines and Traveler Setup

Here's some photos on a later 38. The traveler sits on top of brackets which allow the lines to go through. Not sure how it compares to a 35-3.

Fear and sailing, thoughts about YouTube sailing vlogs, and naked sailors...

I like your videos. Historically, I've only really watched the Vagabonde and Delos sailing videos. I came across your videos recently, and have added them to my list of ones to watch. I like how they have a DIY feel to them, as well as the lively music and narration. My only feedback would...

    Terra Nova: Flooding

Not sure if your pedestal was the same as mine, but I was able to replace the cables without taking the chain off. It took a tiny bit of patience, but more importantly knowing that it could be done... https://backwinded.com/2015/12/07/replacing-the-diesel-engines-throttle-shift-and-stop-cables/
