    Exhaust water blues.

Heat Exchanger Any chance that there is something in the heat exhanger? It seems possible that there might be a piece of impeller in the heat exchanger that is blocking the water flow. Just a thought. Paul

    Relocating Heat Exchanger

I just replaced my Hurth trans with a TMC 40P Twin Disc trans. The engine's heat exchanger is directly above the dip stick of the new trans. (It was also in the way with the original unit.) I'm wondering if the heat exchanger can be mounted vertically. It is currently mounted horizontally...

    Move Engine to Repair Transmission?

Back in the Saddle (Lake) Again! I replaced my original Hurth 50 transmission with a Twin Disc TMC 40P transmission. The Twin Disc unit is physically a very good match. The engine had to be lifted about .25 inch to make the new trans fit. The shift linkage is on the port side of the unit and...

    Move Engine to Repair Transmission?

Epidemic Sound like there is a transmission epidemic. Mine lost it's forward gear 10 days ago. Stella (the boat) is having a twin disc trans installed today. The twin disc seemed to be a closer match tothe original. The mechanic who sold me in the twin disc says that the engine just needs to be...

    Refer lid strut question.

??? Wow, you have a strut to support your refer lid?? My 32-200 on has one of those cheezy springs that if you bump it while grabbing beer you get a head ache! The strut that you have may have been added by a PO, I know that I have considered adding one on my boat. Paul

Cabin sole in the 29'. The warden says "Cover it".

Lonseal? Have you considered using the vinyl material that is designed to look like Teak and Holly? I justcovered my cabin sole with Lonseal. It looks great. The previous owner never touched the original holly and teak floor. It was severly abused and never refinished. It got wet and a large...

    Cockpit Drain Check Valves

Loren: That looks just like the fitting that I have in my cockpit. I'm glad that they do not have to be replaced, just serviced. Guy: I have unscrewed the covers, but the ball that acts as the check valve, cannot be removed. I will look at them again to see if I missed something. If cleaning...

    Cockpit Drain Check Valves

I still have the original cockpit drain check valves in my boat. I'd like to remove the check valves to allow them to drain faster and because they tend to get stuck in the closed position. I know that I read about doing this, but a search for the thread has not been successful. What is the...

Electrical help with bilge pump wiring, please

?? Reverse the wiring I have no experience with that specific pump, so I cannot address your specific situation. However, I can add that if you switch the electrical wires the motor will reverse it's rotation. That will most likely not change the way the pump moves water. Try it, it would help...

    Cabin sole re-finish

vinyl I am currently covering my cabin sole with vinyl. It is the stuff that looks like teak and holly. The material is heavy and looks good so far. Refinishing the original sole was not an option because the previous owner allowed the floor to rot and begin to delaminate. I replaced the soft...

    32-200 galley wiring

Lpg Sounds consistant with what I hve on my 32-200. I have a shutoff switch for my LPG right above the stove. This gives my the opportunity to shut the gas at the stove or at the DC panel. We always shut the power, at the panel, and at the gas bottle when the LP is not in use.

    Music in Cockpit

Under Helm? I mounted a pair of outdoor speaker boxes just below my helm. They are out of the way and under the cover when I am not sailing. I, too, did not want to cut and large holes into the cockpit. Music is a nice thing to have, in moderation. Often, we just enjoy the quiet. Paul

    Universal 25XP

Tach Reliable? I do rememberreading somewhere that diesel tachometers may not be that accurate. I know that if I cruise at 80% of max rpm that I use fuel at an alarming rate. (We used fuel so quickly one trip that we actually ran out.) I "listen" for the sweet spot when we motor while watching...
