E 27 For sale: Anacortes, WA

I'm putting 'Stardust' up for sale. I've owned her for a decade now and have had great experiences with her, but life and the family just don't seem to leave time for her. Moored in Anacortes Marina. Price is negotiable as I'm motivated to get out of paying that monthly moorage. Yachtworld...

    Fuel Prices: Sailing v. Powerboating

Condos Interesting that you mention. Actually, our Port authority here in Everett, WA has a condo project on hiatus (last I heard) since the bank pulled out of the project. Good for the marine business that had yet to get the boot, bad for those that were already forced out.. Or maybe they...

    Spreader Boots

Funny, I just logged in to ask the same question. Just noticed yesterday that one of my boots went missing sometime since the last time I was down to the boat. I always wondered about the way the seem to not fit so well on the spreader tips... So is it the same story with the E27? I was...

    Puget Sound: South: Colvos Passage?

Sorry for the late reply. I took her up from Tacoma to Everett last fall (November). It was a cold, wet and foggy trip for the most part. Had a little sun and wind towards the end of the first day near Elliot bay. Overnighted in Ballard, then a cold motor up to Everett the following day...

    Spinnaker Wanted

I was pretty happy with a genoa I got from Bacons, so I'll second that... Also try Minneys on the left coast. http://www.minneysyachtsurplus.com/ a quick search found this one: <TABLE border=1><TBODY><TR vAlign=bottom align=middle><TD>S</TD><TD>luff: 36' 7"</TD><TD></TD><TD>foot: 21'...

E27 - Main or Head Sail Driven

I would hazzard another (in my case not so informed) opinion. I think the condition and set of the sails would have more influence on our E27 than anything. If you've an old blown out main, and a not so bad jib then you're main will seem to be wanting reletively speaking... and vice versa. My...

    Headsail Design for Cruising E-38

Gale sail? I've no personal experience with this (I have a hank-on storm jib), but it may be another option: http://www.atninc.com/gale.html It's a storm jib that goes around a furled headsail. It would give you the option of a smaller sail, better shaped than the over-furled headsail...

    E-27 Headsail selection

UK quote Well, I finally got around to measuring and faxing off for a quote from UK. This is what they came up with. All purpose Tape Drive Silver 154% Genoa (sail #s, speed stripes, telltale window, genoa turtle), 293 sq ft: $2509 (15% winter discount puts it at $2132) All purpose 154%...

    Zinc anode? E27

Here Typical mointing points for zincs. Shaft and sometimes the shaft support. Bigger boats sometimes have a plate somewhere on the hull as well (my 27 doesn't). If you're in fresh water, I'd imagine there is less need to change them as often (may not need this many either). Also note the color...

"Exciting Changes at Quantum Sails" Email - Privacy Concerns

Just got the same email I just got this email too... However there could be a number of places that they got my address from. I AM pretty sure that I didn't give it to them directly. I have given it to a couple other sail lofts (UK, Sailrite, maybe FX I don't remember). Also gave it to ASA and...

    Need Advice on Varnish Drying

Well, I couldn't find that receipt (just every other one back to 1977). I did find the note where he counted varnish coats. Looks like I exagerated a little. Most peices he put 7 coats on. I'm thinking any good varnish, if applied in a heated space with multiple coats (sand between coats per the...

    Need Advice on Varnish Drying

I'll take a look at the docs on the boat next time I'm down. He kept every receipt, so the varnish is probably there. I know I have a piece of paper that he used to count his coats (minimum of 10!). I can always give him a ring too.. I'll let ya know.

    Need Advice on Varnish Drying

I'm not too experienced with varnishing myself, but the PO of my boat went the route of removing everything made of wood from the boat. He did all of the varnishing in his heated garage... Certainly a labor intensive route (especially if you need to build the heated garage first!), but the...

    E-27 Headsail selection

Reefer madness! I think I've run across reefable headsails on a website or two and kinda wondered how it worked.. That might not be too bad an idea for my old lapper. If its got enough life in it to justify some repairs, maybe I'll have a reef put in too. Kevin, Bummer that we couldn't get...

    E-27 Problem areas

Keep in mind, you'll find similar issues in a Cal or Catalina of the same general size. In fact, probably on most tupperware boats from the '70s and '80s (leaks, core mush, delam, bulkeads rotted, blisters...). The sump in the rear of the keel is a somewhat of a unique thing; definately don't...
