Phil Rushing

I have been sailing for most of my adult life, but always admired Ericson sailboats from afar. Now, at age 66, I finally have an Ericson, and she's a beauty! I needed something small that I could easily single-hand, so I went with a 23. She's a first edition, manufactured in 1968 and she's in near-pristine condition with new mast, rigging, paint, gel coat, sails, and newer Honda outboard. Just sailed her yesterday (5/6/15) from San Diego Bay to new home in Mission Bay in 15 knots plus, and I couldn't believe what a stout little vessel she is! Feel like I'm livin' the dream!

1968 23' - not an MKII, she's a first edition just known as a 23. Some people call these boats an MK I, but that's a nomenclature that evolved after the MKII's came out and is not accurate; her name is Defiant.
