    Sail #

Factory sail numbers and racing association sail numbers are different. The racing ones are longer, like 5 digits. The boat came from the factory with a "short" number.

Need New Companionway Hatch for Ericson 27

When I rebuilt my hatch several years ago, the original curved plywood base had started to delaminate. I found some "bendable plywood" at a place in Anaheim, CA and bent it to shape then covered it with epoxy. All the rest of the original wood I used for the new hatch. The hatch is still...

    E27 Gas tank/Fuel related question

On my E27, the fuel line valve is on the top of the tank. So, nothing would come out if I opened the valve w/o the line attached, since the fuel level is below the open valve. Was your open valve below the top of the tank?

    E-27 Owners

Also got a '73 with the 2nd opening just aft the head bulkhead. The knotmeter sender (which I no longer use) is accessed there.

    Crowded River Sailing

After I posted, I changed my mind to Mt. Hood. :) Here's a great shot of it I got in early July last year. I was camped at a beautiful Forest Svc campground on Trillium Lake, S of Mt. Hood. If you're interested in "land cruising", I keep a detailed log of my travels here...

    Crowded River Sailing

Loren, Is that Mt. Rainier or Mt. Hood (I'm guessing Rainier). I was RVing through the NW last summer and was right by both of them. Beautiful country!

    E-27 exhaust tubing

agraziano23: The setup you had/have is not what comes from the factory. You are missing a "riser" that is basically a pipe-within-a-pipe. It keeps the water from getting back into the engine. It would replace the long vertical section of your setup. This website has a drawing of it...

E 27 hull thickness - fill and fair old through hull hole.

BTW, that location is "factory selected". Same on mine. A royal PIA to get to!

    Sail Warehouse sails

I bought an E27 main from Sail Warehouse several years ago. Looks good to me, but I'm no sail expert or racer. It does have a slight "pucker" where the boom meets the mast. I'm satisfied with my purchase.

    Anchor at Island White?

It's been several years since I was there, but if I remember correctly (which is iffy these days) they only allowed overnighting on the weekend (post 9/11 related). You might want to check. Or maybe it was one of the other islands?

Mission Bay, Oceanside, Dana Point, Cabrillo

When entering Oceanside, if you go straight ahead you're going towards the Camp Pendelton area. Hang a right and you go to the public area. After hanging a right be sure and stay to the right. There are buoys on the left side of the channel that mark sunken objects. Don't remember the buoy...

E27 Transom: cracked along the top aft edge

I have similar cracking on my 1973 E27 transom, but not nearly to the extent as in your pics. Maybe this was just a weak area in the design.

    sail numbers

This place has adhesive numbers. I used them on my new main a few years back. Sailrite

    fixing loose exhaust pipe

Wow, I didn't know this. I've always used galvanized when I re-did my exhaust (more than once). What's the poisonous gas? BTW, glad I'm still alive to ask the question. :egrin:
