E38 new feathering prop yes or no?

One of the best additions to our E36RH was the 3 blade feathering Maxprop. The power and handling improved significantly especially noticeable in close quarters. Smoother acceleration under sail as well when feathered. The extra speed also transplanted into less hours of travel on a long route...

Am I the only one [active in northeastern USA]?

Did not see this earlier. Lucia is here in Guilford, CT. I’m game for a rendezvous next season.

    Missing

Mack, Have you been through NYC yet on another voyage at all? Just a heads up to do your homework and follow the advice closely. I have been through a few times now and know it can be a bit hectic and timing the tide is critical in a sailboat with our typical size engines. The ferry’s do not...

    Tides Marine Sailtrack

The decision to install on our 36RH has made a significant improvement. Up and down with ease. The sail had to be trimmed in the leach to avoid an excessive overlap of the backstay. When the slugs are added it adds a couple inches and also stacks pretty high. We needed a new sail cover. Well...

    Missing

We will be near Noank hopefully a few times this season. It would be fun to catch up with another. The E34 is a great boat. It would certainly fit well in the race fleet. Do you have a Phrf cert? I also welcome crew on our Wednesday night series. Great fun! We plan to do the fall Off Soundings...

    Missing

Not many up here on the CT shoreline from what I can tell. My YC is hosting the COASTAL CLASSIC on August 18. It would be great to see some Ericson sailors there. Rod

    used Ericson (E-36 RH)

I hope to hear the whole story someday. Hauling late must be in the blood. I am usually near the last out here in late November after the yard gives me some grief. Rod

    used Ericson (E-36 RH)

Bill left many of his personal touches on board. Going through years of old gear and notes I learned a bit about him. He was right, it does have a tendancy to want to race. This past year we won our non-spin Wednesday nights and were awarded yacht of the year by the competing clubs. Not bad for...

Need best advice on blister repair

Grind and fill When I hauled last season Lucia had 42 blisters ranging from a dime size to a quarter. She had been sitting stagnant at a dock for three years. Circle them with a sharpie as soon as you haul because they may easily dry out and shrink before you begin to do the work. I used a 4"...

    Block Island Happy Hour

If you are on Block Island today we are having happy hour at mooring #48 in front of Champlins. Dinghy on over and say hello. S/V LUCIA E-36RH Rod & Terri

    Removing baby stay

Hello, I am removing baby stay on E36RH. Long Island sound does not call for it and it is certainly cumbersome on the race course. Has anyone also removed the internal V-berth stay? Not very comfortable when sleeping two up there. Rod Lucia, E36RH

E35 New Sail, Need exact Spec?!

I must agree with Loren, measure more than once with tape measure raised on halyard. All the "I,J,and abc" can't tell you your full hoist. For instance, my forestay is 49'9", I is 47'75", according to sailboat data. My true full hoist on the RF is 46'6". Many measurements come into play. The RF...

    Hello Kindred Spirit Ericson Owners...

Main is a North 3Di that I acquired from a friend who was no longer in need of it. He moved to a Melgus 32. Many of his sails just happened to fit my boat with a few mods. Mainly extending the boom from 12' to 13'8". In my opinion (and a few others) the 36RH was a bit short in the main for Long...

    Hello Kindred Spirit Ericson Owners...

Hello all, After some rigging upgrades, extended boom and a few newer sails "Lucia" is also in CT. She needed some love after being stuck in the mud on the Potomac. Some spring cleaning and back out there on the sound this spring. Rod E36 RH Lucia Sachem Head YC Guilford, CT

    Christmas Gift Ideas For Sailors

Every sailor, Skipper or crew should always have a good knife on them at all times. I have found them to be useful gifts. Rod Lucia, E-36RH Guilford, Ct
