    Helm station anchor windlass control

windlass control I singlehand often, and my helm control for the windlass is the best thing I ever installed. From the helm I can see the paint marks on the chain so I know what I have out. I always retrieve the last bit while on the bow. Dropping anchor singlehanded is a breeze with the...

Great! Ha Ha Rob, you're like baby Jesus.... looking for same ideas... In the process of replacing an OEM exhaust mixing elbow on a yanmar genset. This is the 3rd replacement and the dealer admits that they only last about 5 years. I'm fed up with the $270 crap they sell so I am building one I hope I wont have to deal with again. The...

    Oil drain plug size?

Hey Rob, Ill prob use a steel flare fitting. I get only quality stuff usually from mcmaster carr. I like the prem grey fuel line because its really thick walled. My fuel system hoses have run for many years at about 4 psi with no failures. I can swage on ferrules in my shop for a reliable...

    Oil drain plug size?

got it out... Quick update. Finally got back to the boat. Pumped out the oil out thru the dipstick tube. As usual spent lots of time and got it all (i thought). Had to fight with the drain plug one-handed but persuaded it to come loose. Folded a disposable roasting pan flat and slid it under...

Need advice on electric fuel lift pump

I suppose this could be a problem but as Guy said small diesels have a very slow fuel flow and Im thinking if it actually does emulsify the the water/fuel it will have time to separate again. Also an emulsion containing water is still heavier than fuel so it would stay on the bottom in the bowl...

Need advice on electric fuel lift pump

Kragen sells this facet pump for around $40. Ive got 2 on each of my boats for the engines and gensets. Plastic body wont rust and never had a failure. Also I install the pumps closer to the tank so that the Racors and fuel lines are pressurized rather than having fuel sucked through them. My...

Hey Glyn, Thanks for that info! I noticed all those kits seemed to disappear from websites. The reverso pump is nice. I have one installed on my other sailboat with a Perkins engine and like you said its such a breeze to pump old oil out then new oil back in. I keep the empty plastic gallon jugs...
