    Portable Generator Storage

Honda eu2000 Storage I converted my 32-2 to an electric drive (48 volts 10Kw) so a generator is a bit more important to me than to those with an inboard. I can motor for 20 miles at 4+ knots on the charge from shore power. If I supplement that charge with a 2000 watt generator then it doubles...

2019 PNW Anacortes – Participant Sign Up

RendezvousI We bought our 1975 Ericson 32 in May 2015 as a derelict. We spent the next 2 1/2 years and 1500 hrs rebuilding her to better than new condition. During the rebuild we repowered to electric drive. We launch too late for the 2017 rendezvous and had a prior engagement in 2018. But we...
  6. The Refitting of TRIOCHA- Bulkhead Rebuild Part 2

E32-2 The Refitting of TRIOCHA- Bulkhead Rebuild Part 2

Here are more photos of the bulkhead rebuild and the bilge painted. This was the first glimpse of what TRIOCHA will one day be. All bulkheads were built using the story stick method then cut out using a Dewalt jig saw on two saw horses. I got pretty good using that jigsaw and spent a lot of...
  7. The Refitting of TRIOCHA- Bulkhead Rebuild

E32-2 The Refitting of TRIOCHA- Bulkhead Rebuild

With the interior gutted and in a pile on the floor and the bilge finally cleaned of it's grease and oil, It was time to start the bulkhead rebuild. We started at the bow and using the story stick method traced the shape of the hull onto a story board which then was transferred onto 18mm marine...
  8. The Refitting of TRIOCHA- Interior Demo

E32-2 The Refitting of TRIOCHA- Interior Demo

The work on Triocha has continued but the blog posts have not. I will endeavor to catch you all up on my progress. Due to an increased work load and other life issues I have had to take a couple extended breaks from project. The next project was to gut the interior. The bulkheads were rotted...
  9. Hull Stripping

    E32-2 Hull Stripping

Once the boat was in my bay and on it's stands the work could begin. Since the hull had such severe blistering and I knew I had to do extensive osmosis repair, I wanted to get the hull stripped so it could start drying. Once stripped, the hull could just sit and dry while I got started on other...
  10. Transport Day

    E32-2 Transport Day

After a week of disassembling the exterior hardware and doing some preliminary cleaning the day came to load her up on the transport truck and haul her north. Everything went very smooth and the driver impressed me with his ability to maneuver that trailer in very tight positions. I bought my...
  11. Pre-Transport Disassembly

    E32-2 Pre-Transport Disassembly

I spent the week driving back and forth between Puyallup and Olympia. Everything higher than 11.5 feet needed to be removed to fit into my shop. So all the pulpits, stanchions, and life lines had to be removed.

  13. The Refitting of TRIOCHA... The Haul-Out

E32-2 The Refitting of TRIOCHA... The Haul-Out

The boat was de-masted and hauled out for first time in at least 8 years. The boat had not moved in 4 years and previous to that hadn't moved in 2 years. To say the least there was some growth. There were also a lot of blisters. Osmosis repair would be added to the to-do list. After a good...

    Ericson 32 Rebuild

Here you can see the condition that we found her in. The interior picture shows the starboard bulkhead was cut out right up to the main chainplate. There was 4 inches of standing water/oil/grease in the hull and the engine did not work. Other than that, she was a beauty.

    Ericson 32 Rebuild

I am 5 months into the complete rebuild of a 1975 Ericson 32. I have been taking pictures all along to document the process and have made great progress. I will load pictures over the next few weeks to get you all caught up on my progress. I am hoping to have her back in the water by May 2016...
