Mainsheet boom blocks E36c

Just saw this post. did you get your pics? This is the factory setup attached to end of boom. I have collected 36C photos of other boats so may find a better shot that shows top attachment. I have seen modified arrangement which spreads out single blocks along the boom but this boom is so short that it didn't make sense to me. The big shortcoming with this setup is lack of traveler to move to low side and flatten the sail. I then use my vang (shown) to help flatten the sail. Dave

I got down to the boat and took pic of mainsheets. Didn't see the rest of your post about topping lift. My topping lift is coated wire cable (lifeline) attached on aft tang on the truck of the mast. It comes down to within 5 feet of aft end of boom and terminates with a single block. I then have a 3/8" line attached at end of boom, going up through block, back down to cheek block at end of boom, then leading forward toward the mast and is cleated on the boom about 2 feet from the mast. Hope this helps. Davethumbnail_20200623_143132.jpg

Thanks for the pix looks like we will have to scrounge up looks like a fiddle. Could use a double block but that is the second fiddle(pun intended) that I’ve seen. I would have to see pix of your topping lift setup to visualize it.

Be careful that you are not mistakenly comparing the Ericson 36RH to the E-36-Cruising. Different designers and different era's.

I believe(maybe incorrectly)that the C stands for cutter rigged.
How does one figure out what hull number their Ericson is?

Tap,

OK, I take it your daughter's boat is not Paradise (I was citing the link above).

But it would be odd to sell a boat with neither topping lift nor rigid vang. You can't sail a big boat without one of them. Lowering the mainsail would send the boom crashing into the cockpit.

Agreed Lea is having Kerry Poe, of North Sails Portland, inspect the whole rigging situation.
