CNG refills

Hi all I'm needing to refill my CNG tank and wanted to see if someone might be willing to let me borrow or "rent" their refill adapter for the vehicle filling stations. I'm in Houston TX. Please let me know and PM me to work out any details. I really appreciate it!

I will share a story I heard from the dealer this summer when exchanging my CNG tank. I asked why it has become so difficult to find CNG exchange. She explained that CNG is plentiful, of course. The problem is the tanks we use are hard to come by. As they go through the exchange process the tanks are inspected, tested and recertified. Inevitably, some tanks fail the testing and are taken out of service, with no ready replacements available. Hence, a steadily decreasing tank supply. The point of the story is that these tanks do not last forever. The tank exchange process ensures in-use tanks are regularly inspected and retired when no longer safe. When refilling tanks independently this reinspection does not automatically occur and over time unsafe tanks may remain in use. One would be wise to consider the risks if refilling uncertified, potentially unsafe CNG tanks.

Having experienced difficulty or more like an impossibility, I yanked the CNG stove, hose, and bottle out of my 32-3 and have since utilized the space where the stove was with a portable refrigerator/freezer. It fits perfect and powered by ac/dc. For cooking at the dock, I use an induction electric stovetop and a magma grill while out & about.

This was the last year my bottle was still within its inspection date, so next time it is empty I will have to get it inspected before filling it. Filling it has been super easy and cheap though. It won't be empty again until the end of the 2022 season, so I will report back on that experience then.

I really like my CNG stove and oven. I don't relish updating to propane but I am sure it will be fine when it needs to happen. But until then, we will be supplying warm cookies on cold race days... I hope!
