Every year (mostly in/around Lake St. Clair) the annual hatching and short lived lives of UGLY but harmless Fish Flies invade our seasonal boating enjoyment!
They arrive by the millions (seemingly BILLIONS) for but a couple of endless weeks of their very short lived lives only to create a mess of nasty daily proportions beyond belief!
Our Ford Yacht Club hosts an Annual Night Race…BUT…this year has been now canceled due to a Coast Guard Advisory about a serious navigational hazard!
Freighters apparently going into and out of the Western Lake Erie Ports are now reporting nightly having to shut off their lights AND even minimizing running lights due to heavily swarming fish flies being as bad as a zero visibility fog!!!
Hard to believe them ever being such a serious navigational hazard! (However, seeing them daily now on our boats and on the grounds now - it’s not that hard to believe!!!)
