Interesting windlass location, I wonder what the-birth looks like.

That dodger though... less than aesthetic

That is the same windlass location of the 35-2 i'm looking at this week... it was said to have been done to keep all the weight of the chain lower and it of the bow... but that means it drops through pipe to the removable cushion of the v birth...

The early 38's had all Atkins-Hoyle hatches. Cast aluminum, and very solid - company is still in business, which is a plus.
That fast Bruce King hull stayed the same for a very very long production run with changes in the interior layout, and deck mold, altho mostly subtle.
Fast boat and easy to sail.
(IMHO)
