I’m needing to fix or replace the battery charger on my Erickson 38-200. Did Erickson locate this in the same place ? If so, advise is appreciated. It is a 1989.
Thanks,
Jim
Hi Jim,
My brain is probably still clogged with too much turkey and wine, but I'm unclear on your question. Do you mean you're having trouble with the charger, but you don't know where it's located?
These are a few threads on the subject which may be helpful:
For all you 32-3, 35-3, 38, and 381 owners with the non aft cabin layouts, where have you installed your charger, inverters, DC to DC chargers, batteries, and other electrical system gadgets? I'm finally getting ready to install my new electrical system and I thought I would do a sanity check...

My old Xantrex charger has failed (display does odd things; still charges (at dock; not from engine) but I am not clear it would stop -- does not look like it will go to 'float' anymore. Anyway, time for a new one. The person who might do the work has suggested: - Victron charger - Combining my...

I know, don't do it. But... some races are long enough to require (and allow) engine charging, but not engaging the prop. So the engine would run under little load while charging. How bad is this? I see posts elsewhere about a need for a lot of engine work after doing this on a sail to Hawaii...

If you have a model specific question, it would help you if you put that in the title of your thread. Someone might have that model, but only be quickly scanning headlines. Also, many of us put some basic model information in our signature line. This helps me get more targeted responses. If you click your screen name on the upper blue bar it should take you to a menu with the link for augmenting your signature line.
If there's a thread that has information really pertinent to your issue, you might want to post a question there. It might draw in an expert who'd otherwise miss the question and it concentrates the site knowledge. Just some thoughts, but no rules. You can do this any way you want.
Cheers,
Jeff
