Perhaps a photo would help? I suspect that there are at least two variations. The e29 manual shows cars and blocks inside the boom, but mine just leads to a small 2:1 on the outside. It's pretty wimpy. Also the custom triangular clew shackle is long gone and I just use something I found at WM that "sorta" fits. In fact, I've started to think about looking for a replacement for the whole boom.
