Engine Mounts

Anybody have any thoughts on replacing engine mounts on an '88 vintage 25XP?

Are they dried out and therefore less adept at damping vibration? Waste of money, no need, don't waste my time...?

If it's not broke...don't fix it
As you develope Vibration or Alignment problems check your mounts by
forcefully moving your engine up/down - side to side and listen for
CLANKING or looseness. The mounts on the E35II were (1) broken stem
and (1) broken mount leg. As you stopped the engine it shook violently  I had to GRIND the entire Mount System down to the
hull and start over. Installed new fiberglass stringers and mounts.
Now she's smooooth with virtually no vibration at running speed :D

Good Luck :egrin: :egrin:

I'm not sure I agree with Dan, 19 year old mounts are going to be hard as rock. I would definately consider replacement IF you are experiancing a lot of vibration. Also, mount techology has come a long ways and it should be a fairly easy weekend job. I like the Vetus mounts, but don't currently have them on my boat. Those are what I would look at next time though.
