Ericson 29 bottom paint. Quantity needed?

Frank Langer

1984 Ericson 30+, Nanaimo, BC
Anyone know how many gallons it will take to do the bottom paint on an Ericson 29?
I can put two coats on my E30+ , and an extra bit at the bow, front of the keel and on the rudder, if i apply it carefully, thick enough but not too thick. That all uses one Imperial gallon.

I do two coats over everything and an extra coat at the waterline and leading edges with a gallon on our 30 footer. Usually have bit extra at the end. Each boat design is a bit different with more or less wetted surface needing paint.

Paint is expensive but you can always buy two gallons to be sure and either return the unused one or save it for the next haul out. If you end up opening it, you only need to buy another gallon to do the next one and so on. Use a finish preservative if you do open the can and make sure you reseal it carefully so it will keep. I use Bloxygen.

For more than 20 years I sanded and painted my E29, with co polymer ablative, every two years. It only took a gallon of paint
