I will be replacing the prop and maybe the shaft, on an Ericson 35-3.
The engine is the Universal 5432 diesel. I have a few questions.
What is horsepower of that engine?
Does the transmission have reduction gear or is it 1-1 ratio? (I'll need shaft speed to calculate correct prop size and pitch.)
What is the size of the prop, assuming 3 blade? - diameter and pitch.
What is the typical prop shaft diameter?
A survey said the prop is shot and probably the shaft. It's in the water and I haven't seen it out yet. I'd like the approximate prop specs, so I can start looking for a replacement. Re-pitching is always an option, as long as the prop is close to the same. The engine starts to run rough in gear, at about 2000-2200 rpms, not wanting to rev higher, and blowing black out the exhaust. I was thinking slightly less pitch or diameter might solve that. It revs up all the way in neutral, without smoke.
