Interesting that it is an Edson. In that era EY was mostly installing Yacht Specialties steering assemblies. Our boat was built in the fall of '88 and has YS steering. Of course Ericson would install almost any part that the customer wanted. My friend's E-38-200 has an original Yanmar diesel , for instance.

I just ordered my Wire and Chain from Edson, for my 1984 e38. As mentioned above I have a Yacht Specialties pedestal. Currently I have 2 feet of #50 Chain and about 5 feet of wire on each side (I ordered 9 feet for each side, just in case I measured wrong). Edson uses a different way of connecting the chain to wire then YS did, this may be a non issue but I paid extra to have Edson do the swage fitting like YS. This ended up being stupid expensive, about $500, so maybe consider removing and bringing to a local rigger to duplicate.
