Free Whale Gusher

Before I haul it off to the scrap pile, is there anyone who is wishing they had a 40 year old whale gusher (of the effluent variety). It was abandoned in place when I bought the boat and I pulled it out when I replaced the hoses. Happy to share for the price of shipping slow boat or even half the price of shipping just to prevent its demise.

When I pulled out the OEM "Whale" pump from our head compartment, ancient waste had corroded the aluminum interior and the ss screws holding the check valves were frozen in place. I decided not to reuse it anywhere. Replaced with the plastic Henderson pump of similar size.
Henderson was acquired by Whale, I believe. https://defender.com/en_us/whale-mk...b-jA8n_ZX2ExeXdoPOyHS_8oeQDh_QgO-vCBjqsLwUtfH

The original aluminum pump can often be saved, but it would be a bit of a task. (IMHO)
Martin's blog is well detailed; thanks for the shared link!

http://It’s best forgotten. Loosen ...et afterward makes it all seem so much nicer.
Well... I'm still trying to decipher your http:// message.
Am I correct, that the project is now "out of sight, out of mind?"
Something regarding "loosen ...et afterward" creates the opportunity to ad lib at will... so, does this work?
"LOOSEN THE SS SCREWS," they bloody-well shared with me before embarking on the whale-of-a-tale procedure to remove & replace our gusher pump. After removing every other item surrounding the ss screws of the gusher, considering their forty years of hearty service to Poseidon, we were forced to cut out the fiberglass into which the ss screws were now permanently affixed. I prayed to Aries that we might win the fight; however, the gusher seemed to always have the upper hand, even as we went down with the ship. Afterwards, makes it all seem so much nicer while the project is in the proverbial rear view mirror, such that praying to Epimetheus (God of Afterthought) suits us well now as armchair navigators in Davy Jones's Locker.

How close was I?

HTTP was pure user error. Typing on an iPhone while my son was trying to make me play laser tag. (Always say yes when kids ask to play) Grateful for my freshwater boat when it comes to frozen screws and the like. And mine had been bypassed decades ago so it was just the residual in the housing that spilled out as I was carrying it up the steps. A smarter person would have had a bucket handy to put it in upon removal.

AGREED! Yes, maybe in my sunset years I'll stick to sailing the Great Lakes;) Those sailors never have any issues and are relatively quite on this mechanical forum...and seem to fill the one with weekend adventures beginning and ending in Mai Tais. ;) Case closed...unless the gusher is still in your possession.

Alas and alack, it has been promised to AFrakes who lives just across the lake and has vowed to fetch it this summer.

If you are in search of one, we pulled ours out of the head cabinet several years ago; it had been bypassed years before (always been a Great Lakes boat) and was just taking up space. It’s sitting in the garage on a shelf. I can’t speak to overall condition off-hand, but could inspect and send pics if there’s any interest.
