How to install new traveler blocks

I'm trying to install these new traveler fittings. The rubber fits perfectly on the track by the metal U shaped piece has no obvious mechanism for being secured to the track. How would you do it? Horizontal screw into side of track?

What brand are these fittings? Did they come with any other hardware? The image of the top shows what seems to be a cutout for some other fitting (a control end piece with the sheaves and cam cleats) that would be attached to the rail over the rubber fitting holding it in place. A bit more information about these “fittings” would be helpful for any meaningful advice, I think.

Looks like Ronstan and a screw vertically in the hole on picture #3. But because aluminum and steel are not great friends it might be as we say in Texas a little waller'd out. Christian has a write up on installing one if you want specifics.

Sorry for the oversight!

I think the most obvious options are to attach vertically into the track or horizontally.

Vertically, the issues are that there is already a hole in the track, so I would have to drill and tap blindly on the bottom of the inside of the track. Also, the fastener could easily interfere with block.

Horizontally, it will be necessary to drill through some hard looking stainless, and the into the aluminum, and likely out the other side. This seems like the best option.

I have also considered more creative options.

I could discard or reshape the rubber and then have the fasteners that hold the side mounted block go under the lip of the track.

Or, I could remove the end piece of the rubber and position atop an existing screw and use that.

Epenn, posting the solution to your problem here, after talking to Ronstan, will be helpful for other Ericson owners with the same or similar question.

There should be a fastener under the block that screws into a tapped hole in the traveler track seen in this photo:

But I can’t recall if it is one of the bolts that also holds that end block and plate in place. If that hole is buggered you could move the blocks to the top and through bolt the “U”from the side.

I changed the funky sideways end block to stacked blocks and did some other upgrades and the traveler performs much better now. And it would give you the space to through bolt sideways. Might be worth a look.

Edit- thinking about this more, I would probably try to through bolt all the way through the pylon into the cabin. You have to cut through the foam liner under the vinyl to get to the underside of the pylon but it’s easily reachable.
