In the process of buying a 35-2... What should I look for?

I'm looking at a 35-2 (mid 70s), What problems should I be looking for on this model?

Items of concern
- solid plastic cabin liner seems impossible to detect water intrusion from deck hardware
- glassed in angle iron steering block frame for wheel cable steering that seems poorly designed? A thin piece of metal is glassed to the hull which is welded to the rest of the frame
- combing storage marine ply completely rotten (not too concerned, is there a thread where someone fixes this?)
- The deck looks mid-70s, lots of gelcoat cracks, stress cracks and a bit of delamination. Are there any spots that are typical I should look for?
- Rigging? seems pretty solid, some of the chainplates were replaced, gooseneck looks solid

You should probably rely on a professional surveyor to distinguish cosmetic issues from those of potential real concern - for safety reasons and for cost of repair. Good luck.

For perspective, a 35 is a big boat, and every 1970s boat is an ongoing project, much of which work is done by the owner--or the financials don't make sense.
