Those guys are incredible. The rescue swimmer smiling and waving on his way back up at the end - priceless! After getting everyone off the boat he must have been exhausted but he sure doesn’t show it. Amazing.

On the subject of those Rescue Swimmers... Some years ago when our club was visiting a small town/marina down the river (Cathlamet) they were coincidentally having a little festival. One of their events was the visit of the chopper from Coast Guard Astoria. The crew did a practice rescue of their practice dummy in the river right by us. That afternoon they landed and answered questions & gave us a closer look at the chopper. Their swimmer was a young guy with a Jersey accent, shoulders like a weight lifter, and a cheerful attitude. "Competent" to the max! Whole crew was very impressive.

(Those swimmers probably bench press helicopters to stay in shape!)

Yes, They are incredibly brave, strong and on point. However I wonder if they sank the vessel. There appeared to be electrical power in the boat. Maybe they had engine troubles on top of having the mast come down. They were some rough seas.

Nasty weather. It looks from the deck damage that they got rolled and dismasted. Good to be in helicopter range.

Out of range, cut away the rig and stream a drogue so as not broadside to the seas (if possible). Survivable, which is always encouraging.
