On deck fuel can storage caddy

I wish to construct fuel can storage caddy like what Christian William did since it served him well in the Pacific trips. On the Ericson 32, was the caddy resting on the pair of upper shrouds or the pair of lower shroud where the cut outs are?

I wondered how long my temp racks, made of standard ply with drywall screws and house paint, would last. I had to design new ones to fit the E381, and the old ones were still so strong three years later it took a sledge hammer to bust them up.

Yes, the jugs are red, denoting gasoline. Diesel jugs are supposed to be yellow. The material is the same, but you can spare yourself a lot of explaining by following the traditional color code. "Wait, don't you have a diesel on that boat, and yet, and yet...you are using red cans?"
