Port light problem

Can anyone here help me with some information, please???The aluminum frame around the port light in the head has a split glass. It looks like it should be able to open. Because the rubber gasket around the glass is so old and brittle, it will not slide open. We acquired our 78 E25+ this spring and we are doing some maintenance on her. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Wefco?

If the old material is nasty, I would think your only route would be to either replace the entire port or replace the molding.

Try contacting Wefco Rubber - as they have a lot of the Ericson extrusion molds.

Good Luck!

Buy an opening port. The sliding ones are notorious leakers even with good rubber. West marine can supply something suitable, although they are not the cheapest place to shop.

Sean and Gareth,

Thanks for the suggestions. Just the info I needed to know. Leaking problem is why someone probably sealed them shut.
