Removing Rudder E-27

Member I
Has anyone removed a rudder while the boat was still in the water? We have some delamination on the bottom of the rudder and we would like to remove it for the repair without hauling it (it was just put back in). Anyone have any expierence in this matter or heard anything. It seems the rudderpost has a sleeve and we assume it is water tight. Although the rudder will be bouyant it doesn't appear to be that difficult of a task. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Rudder drop

If there is a packing gland at the top of the fibergalss rudder tube, or sleeve, you will have to loosen that. Then simply remove the tiller head bolts and you can push it down-it will float, so as long as you have a line around the rudder you won't lose it.
Good luck!
