Rub Rail [Original Ericson Section Available]

The Optimist II (an E-38) is currently having her rub rails replaced. I managed to salvage one side. The other was too bent up. I am going to cut it down is size to more manageable lengths, say 10-12' sections. Just putting it out there is case someone has a need. It is not without its flaws of course after 34 years of use

Christian,
I looked into pasts posts and found yours. I copied what you had used. Insurance is paying for it and they are doing both sides. The boat is hauled out now and will remain at Haven Harbour for the winter. I am taking the opportunity to have the toe rails painted and some touch up on the hull. The gel coat around the breast hook was also pretty well chipped up from years of anchor usage. They already did the gel coat work and it looks great. Painting the bottom this weekend and varnishing the handrails. Should look sweet when all is done.

Good--and I'm happy to report that the Taco aluminum replacement is holding up well, looks new, no scratches, still polished.

I ask because the original aluminum scrap you have will be invaluable for folks who need to replace sections damaged by collision, and good on ya for offering it. My own old stuff was snapped up by members in weeks. (I took the liberty of altering the thread title.)
