seeking metal fabrication in Annapolis area

Need some small simple jobs done like cutting and bends in aluminum plate.
(welding helpful but really not necessary)

The fabricators I used to know are gone.

Doesn't have to be "marine". Auto related or general machine shop would be fine.
I don't mind driving in say a 20mile radius.

Anyone know of any.

thanks

Steve, We keep our E32-3 at Port Annapolis Marina which is at the end of Edgewood Road (where it turns into Bembe Beach Road) and along that stretch there are a number of marine services that you might check out. I’ve use Diversified Marine Services in the past for various things but not the kind of work you’re interested in having done. However, they may do that sort of work, I just never asked.

Then there is M Yacht Services which does do fabrication according to their web site. I’ve never used them so I can’t make a recommendation. Also if you nose around in the area where these two businesses are located you might find others. Lots of companies back there offering marine services.

You might also try Port Annapolis Marina, where I’m located, because they do “custom marine metal fabrication” according to their web site. If you call or visit then ask for Steve and tell him that Bob from Vesper sent you. Go to slip B-17 and you’ll see my E32-3 there.

Bob, thanks. I'll try Port Annapolis first. Haven't had much luck in the past with Diversified.
Don't know M, but I'll check with them if no luck at others.

If necessary for most of the project I can use hardwood.

I did contact M for a project once awhile back (can't recall what it was) but I do remember them being expensive. But what isn't on a boat?! Out of curiosity, what are you trying to make?

bases (a pair) for dinghy davits
also: backing plates for some deck fittings that I want to move or add.

probably 1/4" aluminum
cutting and bending. chamfer edges.
probably don't need welds.

For backing plates on the inside, you couldn't go wrong with something like G10 that you could cut yourself quite easily.

good idea on G10. It seems to go through saber saw blades pretty fast.
Maybe I'm using wrong blades ?

For the davit platforms I could (in theory) cut simple shape in 1" oak and glue up several layers.
Might actually look more elegant than metal if done right.
But I have several other projects underway and if I could have it fabricated in Al would be more convenient.

I am in Annapolis and would be happy to chat with you about this project, or consider taking this on over the offseason.

Feel free to PM me to chat; this is my business (website undergoing maintenance at present--will be back up shortly):

I "started a conversation" though this site though I don't really know how that works.
Included my personal email which is best for private dialog.

Use that to connect or post here is that does not reach you.

looking fwd to speaking.
