Well, the cables that I thought just needed adjusting (one had jumped the track), actually need replacing. It appears that at some point, the cable end or eye bolt failed and the cable end was cut off and the remainder clamped back through the eye bolt. It is now too short to run properly through the track. It does work, but has some slop and some broken strands, so it has to go.
Am I correct that an Edson chain and cable kit can be used to replace the Yacht Specialties chain and cable I currently have?
Or is there another source?
Looking at the YS catalog that Christian Williams posted in a thread on pedestal repair, it appears that Edson kits are very similar if not slightly oversized (chain 18", cable length varies, but can cut to fit).
