Those Last Sails & Races of the Season

Sharing a GREAT SAILING DAY:

Given most boaters have already pulled or are well into the process of pulling their boats in preparation of our fast approaching winter season, there are still a few (very few) die-hards squeaking in one more day, or two, on the water.

Today was one of those days for us - but with temps in, at best, in the high 50’s and winds blowing a steady 15 - 20 knots and many gusts well above. It was indeed a blustery fall day of colder temps and ominous skies reminding us of the inevitable winter weather coming.

We ran our simple fun race to/from the mouth of the Detroit River and the Detroit Light. It was a simple reach to broad reach sleigh ride (thank goodness) on both legs yet with the gusts - it kept us on our toes with a rail well buried the whole time.

While only three boats were brave (crazy enough) to come out, we all had an exhilarating ride and good time!

(For those of us Ericson owners, our old ‘73 32-2 held her head proud to smoke both a Catalina 30 and a 30’ sized J boat.)

Perhaps equally - back dockside - was our get-together of sharing a warm-you-up “Makers Mark Tody” and sharing the day’s adventures (along with many other stories).

...Good friends, good times that are enjoyed and shared of days on the water are what it’s all about that last a lifetime!!

Fair Winds!!!

It appears that sailing on your boat causes friends to smile !
:egrin:

It could also be those various sailing concoctions mixed with tasty liqueurs that not only truly warm the body but indeed warm our hearts and certainly kindle shared friendships on those very last great day sails on brisk cold days. ;-))
