The 8-foot, 65-llb. pram had no bad effect on sailing the 32-3. My high-clew genoa doesn't touch it on the present boat and sheets have never fouled.
It does cover the forward hatch, with the unanticipated benefit that the hatch can be left open for ventilation even in extreme weather.
Bow tie-down is by a flush ring pull on the foredeck. Aft is secured with lines to the dorade guard. I find the padded Taylor gunwale covers a necessity since they allow the dinghy to be lashed hard against the deck. A cover against UV (not shown) is as necessary for the paint of a wooden pram as it would be for an inflatable (which also fits well on the larger foredecks).
For me, even a 38 is too small for davits or stern mount of a dinghy, although it's just a matter of what looks good to the owner.
