What is this...located in line between my Sierra 18-7930 fuel filter (Fram housing) and engine?

Can't see any drain or way to open....looks neglected. Fuel tank >>Sierra fuel filter>>this thing>>engine. Some sort of sending unit..?

Resembles the stock Facet brand lift pump. It is a 12 volt pump, and on any time the engine panel is energized.
Our lift pump is visible in pix in this blog, both in its old and then the new location.

It's an electric fuel pump. If you look at it carefully there is a cap on the bottom that you can rotate and remove.

Edit: What I am talking about may be more clear in this picture.

THANK YOU! Looks like a 1985 original...yes, it still works...but maybe its time for a new electric fuel pump or back up! Question...Amazon shows Facet 40002N (2.75-4psi) and 40133N (4-5psi)...both 12v. This is for a Universal M25, 5421. Thanks again!
