Your thoughts on location of an "in-hull" 3D transducer >>>

It will be sealed, self contained in either anti-freeze, mineral oil or other viable alternative in the chosen location. The transducer will be tested in liquid at all alternative locations. There is a 30' cable from transducer to GPS/Multifunction sonar receiver at the helm. Suggestions?

I put my Airmar P-79 transducer in the hull under the v-berth. It serves the Garmin 741 at the helm. My old Datamarine transducer is thru the hull in approximately the same spot. I had to buy an extension cable to reach the helm. The picture shows how much 4200 I had to use before it would not leak anti-freeze. It is still still working great 2 years later. Not 3D though.zL7EoxNbSKy1MdGunMM22g.jpg

I tried in hull on the 34. I found the only area I got a reasonable reading was aft near the fuel tank. Went with thru hull and get readings to 1250 feet. The depths are amazing up here.
