Hi all, I recently got my hands on a 1976 Ericson 23. I’m really excited to get some projects going on the thing.
I have some general questions before I get started and would really appreciate some feedback. To begin, what kind of wood is in the interior? I’m not totally sure if it’s teak or not.
Another thing is , what was the space behind the bulkhead originally used for. It seems like there are brackets there for a head or sink that once stood. Also the companion way slider seems dull, thin and flimsy. Should I add teak trim or replace it as a whole ? Same goes for the forward hatch. I also want to add teak handrails on the deck.
Is this uncommon for 23s? Is it frowned upon? Right now, the non skid is white but I would really like it to be tan. What’s the best way to go about that ? Believe it or not, these are just a few of my many questions! Hopefully this starts a great conversation and thank you for any feedback! Attached are some images for reference.
