E32-3 Keel Bolts Part 2 – Bending Loads

Does there really need to be a Part 2 to this blog? No, unless, like Matt Damon in The Martian, the goal is to just to, “Science the sh** out of this." Why bother then? Maybe because in Part 1, I just wanted to find out if I could crush my fiberglass keel stub by over-tightening the keel bolts. Turns out that’s not likely, anywhere in the range from 150 to 350 ft-lbs on the 1” bolts. But, that range or torque resulted in forces 14-31 times that required to hold the keel up...
