    Removing butyl tape bedding

Eureka!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will never believe it, but here is the solution (no pun intended) to the butyl tape removal problem. HOT WATER! I am not making this up. Just plain (very) hot water, makes the butyl tape very pliable, and the liquid helps it slide...

    My gooseneck exploded

This might be the simplest solution!

    My gooseneck exploded

I have the same gooseneck, and I am considering fixing its location on the mast. Does anyone have experience converting a sliding gooseneck to fixed? I am not entirely convinced of the security of the knurled thumb screw stop.

    Removing butyl tape bedding

I have tried that, with limited success. It really sticks to aluminum!

    Removing butyl tape bedding

I am rebuilding the portlights (deadlights) in my E25 with the Catalina kit, after having tried to just rebed them with butyl tape. Any suggestions as to how to clean off the old butyl tape?

Thanks for taking the time to reply. That's two votes for K.I.S.S.

    E25 Masthead routing

It's stupid question time again. My E25 has four masthead sheaves, of which only two carry halyards, and three exits from which the halyards exit. Only two halyards were set up on my boat: the mainsail and the genoa. There is an additional external block for the spinnaker halyard. I suppose...

Last fix to my E25 centerboard controls/mast step = success!

Yes that would help, along with some detailed photos. Fortunately, the welds show the old location of the port.

    Ericson 25 Centerboard Stability

I have not figured that out yet, but I will post when I do.

Last fix to my E25 centerboard controls/mast step = success!

Upon further inspection, it looks like you are right: it was modified. Would you consider selling the spare you bought from Tony?

Last fix to my E25 centerboard controls/mast step = success!

The plans in the 1977 owner's manual show your arrangement. It also notes the upgrade to Lewmar from the earlier Barlow and Barient winches.
