Rehabilitation of interior house panels in E32-3

We made that same choice on a couple of places we repaired on Kotona. In the photo, looks like those are stainless fasteners. We found some silicon bronze screws that blend in very nicely with the teak. Made it look kinda like we meant to do it that way.

    40 years of monohull "evolution"

They just came up with that so they don’t have to admit that our music (same generation as you) was and is actually better. :egrin:

    E31 Independence A New Home

It’s been five months since we learned of our parent’s diagnosis. We’ve dealt with many changes in that time. Obviously the biggest change was our parent’s move to a long-term care facility. As we’ve visited over the last few months, there are good days and not so good days. Another big change...

    E31: Is this sacrilege?

Congratulations and welcome to the E31. We are delighted with ours. They are a pleasure to sail, plenty of room for the two of us (we lived aboard for 5 months) and we get lots of compliments when we dock at a new marina. I had to allow at least an extra half hour when doing a project on deck...

E31 Independence Signing Off, For Now

We've been quiet for a while. Oh, things have been happening; just not things on the boat. Life, as it sometimes does, has thrown in a course change. Fall was upon us, hurricane season was over, and as we made preparations to cast off on the southbound leg of our journey, we frequently saw...

***Converting 32-2 from Diesel to ALL ELECTRIC?***

For what it’s worth, we converted our previous boat, a Beneteau 235, from a gas outboard (which was missing when we bought it) to electric. We were delighted with the result. Be glad to answer any questions about that installation, but my first advice would be, if you haven’t already, have a...

    electric pod for E35-2 ?

We did all of the install ourselves. It helped that the boat was on its own trailer. It was the largest project we'd done at the time, but there wasn't anything really difficult about it. We did spend weeks measuring and planning for the install of components and cable runs, but the installation...

    electric pod for E35-2 ?

Not the same brand but, we put the ePropulsion version of this on our Beneteau 235. It was the 3.0Kw model, but same type installation. We did use a backing plate of epoxied and glassed 1/2" plywood, with thickened epoxy between it and the hull to fill any gaps. The ePropulsion version came with...

New sails - no 'local' sailmakers.

We ended up going with Precision, partly because we’ve dealt with them before, mostly for the price. They were very helpful with measurement advice and answering questions. Our boat has Harken’s Battcar system and turns out some of the measurements are slightly different than for normal slides...

New sails - no 'local' sailmakers.

Nice. That’s what I’m going to use as well. Did you have a digital version you sent them? I’ve got the copy of the brochure I got from the Resources page. I’m hoping a shop can use that if I can’t find a higher resolution version.

    Heat on a cold morning

Our boat has a Cole stove, that Loren mentioned. We burn those compressed sawdust ’logs’ available at big box hardware stores. It’s mounted on the port side bulkhead. It came with the boat but we used it several times last year and it can heat the cabin well enough to run you out. That’s why we...

New sails - no 'local' sailmakers.

Thanks Don, I'll check them out. Curious, did you have a logo put on your main and if so did you use the standard Ericson logo or the stylized Liberty Bell logo that I see in the original 31 Independence brochure?

A nice write-up about Bruce King NA

We have one of those on our E31 Independence. Completely agree with Martin. It came with the boat, but would be worth the investment if it hadn't. Martin, please add my encouragement on the book release. Would love to have a copy. As far as design, we were warned by a previous owner that...
