    Questions about adding resources

Hello all. I was trying to upload a bunch of images of E39 drawings to the resources page, but when I tried to upload them, most came back as too large. I tried resizing them as small as they would go, with no luck. Any suggestions on how I could make it work? The images are just jpegs.

Vendors, General Insurance options for older boats?

Hey Kif, I went through the same thing last year with Geico. I'm on an 1973 E39. State Farm is the only one that would insure me (in Florida). I did have to get an insurance survey and add a few things, such as carbon monoxide alarm, smoke detector and updated engine room extinguisher. Aside...

Marina etiquette with others peoples’ stuff

Hello All, I'm one of the Dockmasters at my marina, and I figured I would hop in and give my two cents. I'd say Christian and bgary are on the right track. If there is a safety issue or imminent danger, it's best to act to prevent catastrophe. Otherwise, if it's something that is just annoying...

    Yanmar 3GM30F – Tapping/Ticking Noise at Idle

It could potentially be a sticky lifter or a push rod issue. I'm not super familiar with yanmars though, but I have plenty of experience with other diesels. Is the engine running oddly at all?

Cylinder Head studs vs bolts universal m25xp

Hi Tim. I spent a number of years as a diesel mechanic, and like Stuphoto said, it's usually recommended to replace all the bolts/studs when replacing a head/gasket. The reason for this is that properly torqueing bolts generally calls for "stretching" of the bolts. But this would mean that any...

    Sanding disks not lasting

If I may be so bold as to suggest ditching the orbital all together. We tried it when we picked up our E39, but it was painfully slow. What we found that worked very well was a disc sander with a 40 grit disc, and a 2" paint scraper. They make short work of the paint but require care not to...

    E39 rigging specs?

Thanks for the info everyone. I was really looking for specific cable lengths. I've poked around just about everywhere I can think of to find them, but have come up short. It seems like there just isn't much detailed info about the boat unfortunately. Regardless of the rigging, I'm enamored with...

    E39 rigging specs?

Hello everyone! I'm brand new to the forum, and am currently in the market for a boat. We recently looked at an E39 that we really liked. Like all old boats, it's in need of a refit. I was hoping someone here could enlighten me on re-rig cost for it, or better yet, have rigging measurements I...
