Westerbeke 42B diesel on Ericson 29 What about a Westerbeke 42B 4-cylinder diesel as replacement for the Atomic 4 on an Ericson 29? 42 Hp at 3600 rpm, dry weight 419 lbs.

Thanks – Wishful thinking on my part, I think. You are correct. The displacement is about 8,000 lbs. The K30M was fine for the 5,000 lbs 25' sloop it came from (top speed 6 knots), and I did use it only when needed to get in and out of port. I can see I'll need something bigger for the Ericson.

My Ericson 29 has a seized Atomic 4 that I would like to replace with a marine diesel. I have a working 6Hp single cylinder Farymann K30M diesel, and would like to know if you have experience installing something like this on an Ericson 27-29 or know if this would/would not be a suitable engine...
